‘Away that day’, the new sustainable bikini designed for women.

By Kimberley Rino-Lightfoot

Featured in British Vogue and Graziauk, the new earth-friendly swimwear ‘Away That Day’ is sustainable and made from recycled materials, created to empower and make women feel good about themselves.

“The swimsuits I design always have to answer yes to the fundamental elements which are: ‘Will this look cute?’ ‘Will this make them feel confident?’ ‘Will this feel supportive?’ and ‘Will they be able to swim in this?”, said Ingemae Kotz, who founded the brand in 2018.

“If the answer is yes to all of them, then it’s a good start,” said 27 year-old Kotz, adding that all the swimsuits are made by a small family-run business in Bali. This family of artisans focuses on craftmanship and quality at the forefront of every garment.

It was pivotal for the owners to combine their swimwear brand with sustainable practices. The swimsuits are all made from recycled ocean plastic fishing nets and are guaranteed to last due to their high quality and durability.

From high-waisted bikini bottoms and strapless tops to low-cut bottoms and strappy bras, each swimwear piece is thoroughly thought out to meet the need of all women, no matter their shape and size.

“There have been various times where I was travelling and could not find a stylish and sustainable bikini anywhere, so I decided to put my vision to paper and create something new,” said Kotz.

Many high-quality swimsuits come at a high price. However, Away That Day offers deals on their Instagram page and made sure people all around the world can have access to affordable swimwear.

“We tried keeping everything under £100,” said Rex Adams, creative director and model for Away That Day.

The swimwear itself has a luxurious and silky feeling and according to numerous Away That Day models on their Instagram page, it ‘fits just like a glove’.
